Oh man! I was reading all the discouraging posts about not finding work. I too was wondering how well our "certificates" stood up compared to other course degrees and am thinking not so much? I am just about to start Course 5. After 8 months of working on this and working part time I was thinking I'm almost done and can finally start a good life. I even live in a town that has one of the number one hospitals in the world. I don't even think they will look at me after reading about everyone. I was really gun hoe at first and got the first three courses done in two months. Then my motivation went down hill fast, I receive constant conflicting corrections from instructors and I am almost ready to throw everything away. Is there any hope for all of this???

Yes Danielle930 there is hope! I work for Inscribe and I went to AHP for school. I was shocked I got in because I also read all the discouraging comments and thought I wasted my money. Inscribe is almost double in size in the next few months and will need a lot of MTs. However, they are tough scorers on their online tests. You can pass it though because I did!
Here are some hints on how to pass their tests. If every in question put a blank. They understand you are brand new and don't expect you to know everything. So always put a blank if you are not sure. Second, follow their "Inscribe standards" to a T. I think I had them memorized by the time I was done with the test. They are not too worried about formatting errors but more about medical terminology so listen over and over. I probably worked on their test for a couple of weeks, said lots of prayers and listened to them over and over again. They are the best place I could ever work for! I know you can also do well. Good luck!

I got my certificate from AHP one year ago - Dec 2011. I've had no luck finding work. I'm very discouraged and kind of angry that I was told lots of things from the company that haven't come to pass. I feel I wasted $2,500 on this course and company. And judging by some of the posts here, a lot of people feel the same way. If I had it to do all over again, I'd take Medical Billing. I've checked hospitals and doctors in the area and they all want experienced MTs. I was at my orthopedist's office recently - there are about 6 doctors in together. I asked who did their transcription and was told that they use Dragon and the doctors do their own. Why pay someone when it's so easy to do it yourself by just talking into your computer! Looks like MTs are becoming obsolete.

I graduated from AHP in August and still can't get a job. I am considering the Finish Up and Internship Program with Med Workshops. Is anyone familiar with them? Any advice and information about Med Workshops will be helpful. Thank you.

I'm with USCI. They have a 6 month find work guarantee or you get your tuition back. Has anyone had any luck with that?

I still have the same question no one has answered yet- Does it help to have your RMT??? I mean, I am a vet tech, and you can take the classes to be a tech and graduate, but if you don't take the state boards, your degree essentially means nothing. Passing the exam means that you have the knowledge needed to perform well in a hospital/clinical setting.

So with that said, it would make sense to me that obtaining an RMT would be beneficial, even essential to getting an MT job. Just some food for thought. Does anyone have the RMT certification?
